The library was named in honor of retired head librarian, Ms. Mamie Ethel Burton, during a dedication ceremony Fall of 1976. Burton Library is located near the center of the campus and provides adequate shelving space to house approximately 50,000 volumes, as well as study rooms, a leisure reading area and special collection holdings . The library has a seating capacity of 250, mostly individual study carrels. Provisions are made for housing non-book materials and for meeting technological changes and needs.
