Charges will not be filed in an alleged rape case reported earlier this week at East Central Community College in Decatur, according to ECCC President Dr. Phil A. Sutphin.

Dr. Sutphin made the announcement following an investigation by campus police of the reported incident, which involved a female non-student and occurred after 10 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in a men’s residence hall.

“After interviewing all identified witnesses and reviewing all physical evidence identified and collected, the decision has been made by the ECCC Police Department in consultation with the alleged victim’s parents, that there was insufficient evidence to pursue rape charges against any person(s) in this case,” said Dr. Sutphin. “Any further action in this matter will be campus-based disciplinary actions.”
