East Central Community College baseball standout Donnie Tabb of Philadelphia was chosen by the New York Mets Wednesday in the 43rd round of the Major League Baseball Draft.
Tabb, the 1,292nd pick overall in the draft, was mostly a center fielder for the 2010 Diamond Warriors who were state tournament runners-up and finished 39-20 under fourth-year head coach Neal Holliman. The Neshoba Central High School product also saw action as a pitcher, second baseman, center- and left-fielder and at short stop.
A second team MACJC All-State selection, Tabb posted a .345 batting average with three home runs, two triples and 16 doubles this past season. He also collected 49 RBIs and scored 59 runs.
