Recipients of various honors to be presented during East Central Community College’s homecoming celebration scheduled Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010, on the Decatur campus, were recently announced by Dr. Stacey Hollingsworth, executive director for foundation and alumni relations.
Brigadier General Amelia Ellen Kennedy (Class of 1970) of Louisville is the College’s Alumna of the Year and William Dunigan “Bill” Bailey (Class of 1946) of Decatur is being honored as Alumnus of the Year.
Selected for induction into the College’s Athletic Hall of Fame are Chris Harris (Class of 1976) of Decatur and Dr. Howard Carlton McMillin (Class of 1950) of Carthage.
Also being honored is the late Choctaw Chief Phillip Martin, recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award. Chief Martin attended ECCC in 1957-58.
Reunion groups receiving special recognition include the Class of 1940, Class of 1950, Class of 1960, Class of 1970, Classes of 1979,1980 and 1981, and all Warrior Corps members. The Classes of 1957, 1958 and 1959 will also have their annual reunion during the homecoming weekend and will include the Class of 1960 for the group’s dinner meeting scheduled Friday, Oct. 1.
Recognition of award winners will be made at the Alumni Association Luncheon beginning at noon in Mabry Memorial Cafeteria.
