A full month of educational and fun-filled activities awaits area youngsters when East Central Community College holds its 24th Annual Kids’ College on the Decatur campus.
Marcie Pinson, who begins her first year as program director, said several new activities are included in this summer’s offerings.
“We are offering many of the same activities as in the past but have added several new classes, including CSI: Decatur, Sewing/Crafts, Pageantry, Decatur Outdoors and Jr. Warrior Police Academy, which we hope will add interest and enjoyment to the program,” Pinson said.
The schedule for Kids’ College activities is as follows:
JUNE 29-30
Spa Kamp: Ages 5-9, Tuesday, June 29; Ages 10-15, Wednesday, June 30. Activity is held from 8:30 to11:30 a.m. at the ECCC Cosmetology Department. Participants will learn the steps of a guided facial, have their hair washed and styled, their nails painted, and later “unwind” with a foot bath and pedicure. ECCC cosmetology instructor Wanda Brackeen will supervise the day’s activities and all procedures will be performed by a student cosmetologist.
JULY 5-9
Little Warrior Football: Ages 5-8, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m.; Ages nine to 12, 10:30 a.m. to noon. ECCC football coaches Derek Pouncey and Keith Houston will serve as instructors.
CSI: Decatur: Ages 5- 8, 10:30 a.m. to noon; Ages 9-12, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. ECCC Chief of Police Jonathan Peeples will serve as instructor with assistance provided by the ECCC and Decatur police departments.
Art/Drawing: Ages 5-8, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m.; Ages 9-12, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Ben Wall will serve as instructor.
Little Warrior Cheerleading: Ages 5-8, 10:30 a.m. to noon; Ages 9-12, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. Patrick Stokley will serve as instructor.
JULY 12-16
Little Warrior Tennis: Ages 5-8, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m.; Ages 9-12, 10:30 a.m. to noon. ECCC tennis coach Dianne O’Neill will serve as instructor.
Sewing/Crafts: Ages 5-8, 10:30 a.m. to noon; Ages 9-12, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. Joy Hayes and Molly Hayes will serve as instructors.
Pageantry: Ages 5-8, 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.; Ages 9-12, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Heather Compton will serve as instructor.
Little Warrior Softball: Ages 5-8, 10:30 a.m. to noon; Ages 9-12, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. ECCC softball head coach Scott Hill will serve as instructor.
JULY 19-23
Little Warrior Basketball: Ages 5-8, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m.; Ages 9-12, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Lady Warrior head coach Bill Smith will serve as instructor.
Photography: Ages 5-8, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m.; Ages 9-12, 10:30 a.m. to noon. ECCC publications coordinator Gennie Phillips will serve as instructor.
Decatur Outdoors: Ages 5-8, 10:30 a.m. to noon; Ages 9-12, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. Joe McGee will serve as instructor.

Cake Decorating: Ages 5-8, 8:30 to10:15 a.m.; Ages 9-12, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Renea Savell and Bridgett Peeples will serve as instructors.
Jr. Warrior Police Academy: Ages 5-8, 10:30 a.m. to noon; Ages 9-12, 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. ECCC Police Chief Jonathan Peeples will serve as instructor with assistance provided by the ECCC and Decatur police departments.
