Receive First Chair Honors During ECCC Band Clinic

These local musicians received first chair, first band honors during the 32nd annual East Central Community College Invitational Band Clinic held recently on the Decatur campus. The two-day clinic is comprised of first and second bands, which include the top musicians from the ECCC district. The clinic concludes with a concert in Huff Auditorium. Students and their respective schools include (front row, from left) Ruby Stewart (baritone) and Allie Burt (trumpet), both of Neshoba Central; Helen Echazabal (trombone), Morton; Zach Peden (alto sax), Neshoba Central; Katherine Jacome-Cluff (clarinet), Newton County; and Caleb Raines (bass), Newton County; (second row, from left) Ashley Bozeman (mallets), Newton County; Lindsay Gibbs (flute), Morton; Jimmeria Jones (contra bass), Forest; and Matthew Dempsey (French horn), Louisville; and (back row, from left) Brandon Gladney (percussion) and Jason Mann (tuba), both of Newton County; and Spencer Sims (tenor sax) and Andrew Kiepe (bari sax), both of Neshoba Central. ECCC alumnus Sid McNeil, band director at Olive Branch, served as guest clinician for the first band and Matt Rowan of Oxford directed the second band. Thomas W. Carson serves as ECCC Director of Bands.
