Go to Class - Go to class and take your studies seriously.  Ensure that you acquire your course syllabus from every class and know it.  Keep it available!  The syllabus is a guide for you to succeed in class.  It will include important dates, important assignments, and other material pertinent to the class.

Be Informed.  Read your Student Handbook. Ignorance of the rules and policies are not an excuse.  When you enroll at ECCC, you agree to follow all rules and policies set forth by our Board of Trustees.  Also, read the Daily Student Bulletin, which is published every day that class is in session during the Fall and Spring semesters.  It is available in strategic locations on campus, or you can read it online.

Student Handbook - Access and review the Student Handbook

College Calendar - View the updated Calendar of Events and deadlines.

My EC - My EC is a collection of your personal information, such as your grades, current schedule, account information, financial aid information, advisor, degree plan, and lots of other useful information.   Your login should be your student id# and your password given to you once you have been accepted to EC.  Please check announcements on My EC regularly!

Warrior Alert - Warrior Alert is a rapid communication system that sends messages to cell phones, e-mails, text messages, and land line phones used during a campus emergency.  Student Services will  gather cell phone information from you.  As a student you may login to your Warrior Alert account and opt out at any time, but participation in the program is strongly recommended.  Calls will only be made in imminent emergencies.  During the registration period of each term, you will be receiving via your email account correspondence regarding your Warrior Alert login.   Once you receive this, please login and update all your emergency contact information.

Email - We ask that you use your personal email address to communicate with EC.  To update this address, please go to www.eccc.edu.  Click on My EC.  Click on the Personal Info link.   Click on the Biographical Info tab.  Click the pencil to edit your email address.   Allow up to 36 hours for the email address to be updated in our system.   If you do not have a personal email address, you will be issued an account and sent a letter a few days before classes start.

Network Password - After you have registered for classes, you are given a network (LAN) login account.  This allows you to login to student accessible computers on campus.  This is the same username and password used for My EC and Blackboard. If you change your My EC password, this password will get updated to the same password within 24 hours.

Blackboard - To access your classes online, you may go to www.eccc.edu and click on My EC.  From there you may click on Blackboard.  Your login should be your student id number and your My EC password.

eLearning - The community colleges in the state collectively offer online classes.  You can get more information about these on the eLearning web page.  These classes are a great alternative for someone who doesn’t have the time for the traditional classes, but they can be more difficult as it takes much discipline to succeed in online courses. Online students receive the same services that on-campus students receive. Contact sgray@eccc.edu or 601-635-6429 or cjenkins@eccc.edu  or 601-635-6322 if you have concerns about these services or if you need more information on the Mississippi Virtual Community College.

Attendance Requirements- (See the Student Handbook to read the detailed attendance policies.) In order to be successful in College, you must make every effort to attend class!  There are two types of absences.  An official absence is an absence where you are representing the College on official business.  Unofficial absences are all other absences such as for illness.  Each instructor will have different policy as far as whether or not you are allowed to make up work.  You will be informed of this the first day of class.   Generally, you are allowed to miss two times the number of times a class meets per week.  For example, if a class meets three days per week, you can miss the class six times.  On your seventh miss, you will be cut out of the class with a grade of W. If a class meets two times per week, you will be cut out on the fifth absence, etc.  If you plan to withdraw from the class, you MUST do so before you cut out.  There is a difference in a W that is the result of a cut-out and a voluntary W!  Many of our Career-Technical Programs have an individual Attendance Policy for each class.  If you are cut out of a class, you have the right to appeal to your instructor for reinstatement.  You must do this within 5 days of cutting out.  Documentation for why you missed is crucial. Do not miss class for any reason.  You never know when you will have to miss!  If you have questions about attendance policies, contact Randall E. Lee at rlee@eccc.edu or 601-635-6375

You will be meet with your advisor once a semester and you are encouraged to develop a relationship.  Your advisor will assist you, but it is up to you as an individual to ensure that you are taking the required classes.  If you know where you will transfer to, acquire a copy of their catalog and ensure that you are taking what they require.

Withdrawal Procedures –Please be aware of the withdrawal process, which is located in the Student Handbook.  To withdraw from a class, you will be required to see your instructor or advisor to begin the process.  You will then need to see either a Career-Technical Counselor or an Academic Counselor.  Your final step will be to take the Withdrawal Sheet to Admissions.  For questions about withdrawing from college or dropping a course, please contact lhanna@eccc.edu or 601-635-6308.
