The defending state champion East Central Community College Diamond Warriors will travel to East Mississippi Community College for the post-season competition, with the first game set for 7 p.m. Friday, May 1 on the Scooba campus.
Game two is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2. A game three – if needed – begins immediately after the second game. All games will be held in Scooba.
The Diamond Warriors will be looking to avenge early season losses to the Lions. EC fell 6-5 and 3-0 in doubleheader action held Feb. 21 at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur.
East Central qualified for the post-season series as the No. 4 seed in the MACJC South Division. The Diamond Warriors and MS Gulf Coast both had 10-14 division marks but EC captured three of four regular season matchups with the Bulldogs to qualify for the post-season. Jones County won the division with an 18-6 record, followed by Hinds (17-7) and Pearl River (12-12). Southwest finished at 9-15 and Copiah-Lincoln at 8-16. The top four teams in each division advance to the post-season series.
East Mississippi won the MACJC North Division with an 18-6 mark. Northeast finished second at 17-7, followed by Northwest (16-8), Holmes (12-12), MS Delta (9-15) and Coahoma (0-24).
The ECCC/EMCC series will be streamed live on the EMCC Website, www.EMCCAtletics.com/live. A link to the broadcast will be available on the ECCC Web site, www.eccc.edu.
EC’s baseball program is led by head coach Neal Holliman and assistants Scott DeLoach and Ronald Sims.
