The Lady Diamond Warriors rallied for an 8-5 win in the nightcap to complete the doubleheader sweep and improve to 29-11 overall and 14-8 in the MACJC South Division. The Lady Bears dropped to 10-23 and 6-16.
Buckley’s solo shot came in the first inning. She is a product of Neshoba Central High School.
Other hitters were Karoline Holsonback, double and single; Mallory Turner of West Lauderdale, two singles and RBI; Lindsey Beard of Clarkdale, two singles; and Kaylin Hopkins of Louisville, single.
Runs were scored by Buckley, Beard, Holsonback, Hopkins, Nikki Triplett of Forest and Makayla Kelly of Nederland (Texas) High School.
Kendra Wilson went the distance to record the victory. She allowed four earned runs on 10 hits and fanned four batters in the seven-inning battle. She also walked six batters.
In the second contest, Beard led the offense with a double, two singles and two RBIs. Holsonback contributed a double and single. She also knocked in two runs.
Other hitters were Anna-Katherine Nowell of Leake Academy, two singles; and Turner, Buckley and Hopkins, singles each. Hayley Stephens of Union was credited with two RBIs.
Runs were scored by Nowell (3), Turner, Beard, Stephens, Hopkins and Morgan Porter of Enterprise.
Kelly picked up the win. She hurled 5 1/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on seven hits. She also fanned two batters.
Wilson pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed one hit. She fanned two batters and walked one.
EC hosts Copiah-Lincoln Community College (20-15, 12-10) Friday, April 11 in the home finale. The division battle is also designated as Sophomore Appreciation Day. The twin bill begins at 2 p.m. on the Decatur campus.
