The Lady Diamond Warriors sport a 30-12 overall record and 15-9 mark in the MACJC South Division following the home finale, designated as “Sophomore Appreciation Day.” Co-Lin is 21-16 and 13-11.
In the opener, Morgan Porter of Enterprise slapped three singles, Amber McBroom of Brandon doubled and singled, and Hayley Stephens of Union contributed two singles to lead the offense. McBroom was also credited with two RBIs.
Ty Buckley belted her 19th homer and continues to lead the NJCAA Division II in home runs. Buckley is a product of Neshoba Central High School.
Other hitters were Karoline Holsonback, a product of South Lamar (Ala.) High School, double; and Kaylin Hopkins of Louisville, single.
Runs were scored by Buckley, Porter and Nikki Triplett of Forest.
Kendra Wilson took the loss, allowing six earned runs on six hits through one inning. She walked three batters. Wilson is a product of South Lamar (Ala.) High School.
Makayla Kelly hurled five innings and allowed six earned runs on 10 hits. She walked a batter. Kelly is a product of Nederland (Texas) High School.
EC’s offense came alive in the nightcap as several players collected multiple hits.
McBroom homered and singled and collected three RBIs; Porter hit a two-run triple; Beard doubled and singled and knocked in a pair of runs; Holsonback doubled and singled and was credited with an RBI; and Hopkins had two singles.
Mallory Turner of West Lauderdale contributed a single and Stephens was credited with an RBI.
Wilson went the distance to pick up the win. She allowed two earned runs on 12 hits and fanned five batters. She also walked a pair.
Next up for the Lady Diamond Warriors is a division doubleheader with Hinds Community College Tuesday, April 14. Game times are 2 and 4 p.m. on the Raymond campus.
