The Lady Diamond Warriors were edged 2-1 in the opener but rallied for a 7-2 victory in the nightcap.
Ty Buckley ripped an RBI double to lead EC’s offense in the first contest. Buckley is a product of Neshoba Central High School.
Other hitters were Mallory Turner of West Lauderdale, Morgan Porter of Enterprise and Makayla Kelly, a product of Nederland (Texas) High School, singles each. Porter scored the lone run.
Kendra Wilson took the loss on the mound. Wilson allowed two earned runs on five hits during the seven-inning matchup. She also fanned two batters and walked three. Wilson is a product of South Lamar (Ala.) High School.
In the second contest, EC’s offense came alive with Kaylin Hopkins of Louisville and Karoline Holsonback of South Lamar (Ala.) High School leading the attack by belting three singles each.
Buckley contributed a double and a single, and was credited with an RBI.
Also recording multiple hits were Amber McBroom of Brandon and Anna-Katherine Nowell of Leake Academy, Each had two singles and an RBI.
Other hitters were Turner and Porter, RBI singles each.
Hayley Stephens of Union was also credited with an RBI.
Kelly picked up the win and allowed no earned runs on six hits. She also fanned three batters.
The Lady Diamond Warriors are now 12-2 on the 2014 campaign under head coach Kristin Chaney, assistant Courtney Nunn and volunteer assistant Kasie Buckley.
EC hosts Jones County Junior College Saturday, March 1. The twin bill begins at 1 p.m. on the Decatur campus.
