ECCC Softball Team Vying For State Title

East Central Community College’s fast-pitch softball team wrapped up another successful regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Northeast Mississippi Community College Monday afternoon on the Decatur campus.

The Lady Diamond Warriors are now focused on the upcoming MACJC State Softball Championship scheduled April 24-26 at the Clinton High School softball field.

The top two teams in the MACJC North, Central and South divisions qualify for the double-elimination event, hosted this year by the Central Division winner, Hinds Community College.

East Central, which finished season action with a 24-14 overall record and placed second in the MACJC Central Division with a 12-4 mark under fifth-year head coach Scott Hill, begins tournament competition against Itawamba Community College at 1 p.m. Thursday.

Also participating are Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and Northeast. 

Competition concludes with the championship game scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday.
