Several ECCC Baseball Players Continuing Careers Several members of the 2008 East Central Community College baseball team are continuing their careers on the senior college level, announced Neal Holliman, head coach. Recently signing with the University of Alabama-Huntsville are pitcher/middle infielder Brian Jones of Scottsville, Ky.; catcher Chris Parkman of Pulaski; and pitcher Gregory Stovall of Philadelphia. Outfielder Terrell Hendrix of Starkville has signed with the University of West Alabama, and pitcher Jesus Aleman of Belle Glade, Fla., inked with Mississippi Valley State University. Jones, a 6’, 160-pound product of Allen County (Ky.) High School, led the Diamond Warriors in hitting with a .272 average. He belted two home runs, 10 doubles and collected 36 RBIs. He also had success on the mound by posting a 5-1 mark with a 2.40 ERA. In recognition of his outstanding campaign, Jones received first team All-State honors and was named the Diamond Warriors’ most valuable player and most valuable pitcher. Parkman, a 5-11, 200-pound product of Raleigh High School and transfer from the University of West Alabama, batted .283 with one home run, nine doubles and 37 RBIs. He served as co-captain of the 2008 squad. Stovall, a 5-11, 215-pound southpaw, was a two-year conference starter on the mound for East Central. He is a product of Neshoba Central High School. Hendrix, a 5-7, 135-pound centerfielder, batted .289 with three home runs, one triple and two doubles. He collected 20 RBIs. Hendrix is a product of East Oktibbeha County High School. Aleman, a 6’, 205-pound right-hander, led the 2008 Warrior pitching staff in strikeouts with 57. He transferred to East Central from the University of West Alabama. East Central completed the 2008 campaign with a 26-24 overall mark and finished 8-8 in the MACJC Central Division. The Diamond Warriors won the 2007 state championship en route to a 31-23 record. Serving as Holliman’s assistants are Michael Avalon and Roberto Martinez. |
