ECCC Club Donates To Decatur Siren Project

SkillsUSA students at East Central Community College in Decatur recently raised funds for the Decatur Siren Project, which involves the purchase of five weather-alert sirens. One of the sirens is designated for the ECCC campus. Evan Smart (second from left) of Philadelphia, club president, presents a $1000 check for the project to Mayor Bruce Cater. Also pictured are John Everett (left), SkillsUSA adviser and electrical technology instructor, and Randy Rushing of the Decatur Police Department. Total cost for all five sirens is $100,000. Mayor Cater said 75% of the funding will come from grant money. The remaining $25,000 is being raised on the local level.
