ECCC Expecting Capacity Field For Warrior Golf Classic

There’s still time to sign up for the seventh annual Warrior Golf Classic scheduled Thursday, June 19 at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club in Choctaw.

Sponsored by the East Central Community College Alumni Association, the four-person scramble will be held on the award-winning Oaks Course with tee-off time set for 10 a.m. Registration activities begin at 9 a.m.

Fourteen teams have entered the annual fundraising event, which provides scholarships for students residing in ECCC’s district, which includes Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott and Winston counties.

“We certainly appreciate the support we have received for the Warrior Golf Classic and encourage other alumni and friends of the College to join us for this year’s event,” said Stacey Hollingsworth, executive director for foundation and alumni relations, who serves as tournament coordinator.

Hollingsworth said the tournament has provided more than $21,000 in scholarship monies since its beginning in 2002.

Entry fee is $125 per person, which includes green fee, golf cart and a box lunch.

Corporate sponsorships are also available on the following various levels: Gold - $650 (includes a four-person team and hole sponsorship); Silver - $400 (includes fees for two players and hole sponsorship); and Bronze - $200 (includes hole sponsorship).

Awards will be presented to the corporate division winner and the top three teams in each flight. Golfers will also have the opportunity to win various course prizes and door prizes will be presented following competition.

Newton County Bank is a Player Sponsor and Birdies for Charity in Jackson sponsors the “Drive the Middle” contest.

The ECCC Foundation sponsors the “Hole-in-One” competition on all par three holes.
