Sophomore Miguel Medrano of Gonzales, Louisiana ended his time at East Central by adding one more prestigious award to his collection. Miguel was recently named an Academic All-American by the NJCAA. Requirements for this award include having a minimum 3.6 GPA. Miguel who had a 3.76 GPA earned Exemplary Academic Achievement. Congratulations to Miguel as he continues his soccer career with the University of West Alabama in Livingston, AL. Miguel is majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration in mathematics.
East Central Community College Soccer hosted the Annual High School 7-v-7 Soccer Tournament on Friday, June 8. Six teams entered the days competition with the group from Newton County taking home top honors at the end of the day. The results of the day are:

The Newton County Cougar squad finished the day's competition with a record of 4-1-0 and a total of 36 points. this was good enough to capture 1st place honors in the tournament.
The Florence Varsity team and Junior Varsity teams were in the competition and finished 2nd and 5th in the final results. Their records were 3-2-0 for the JV and 2-3-0 for the varsity. They finished with 29 and 23 points with the JV winning the tiebreaker over Neshoba for 2nd place.
The Neshoba Central Rockets finished the day's competition with a record of 3-2-0 and a total of 29 points to finish in 3rd place for the day after losing the tiebreaker to Florence.
The Greene County team finished the competition with a record of 3-2-0 and earned 26 points. This was good enough for a 4th place finish for the day.
The Philadelphia squad finished the day with a record of 0-5-0 and 6 points, good for a 6th place finish.
