The East Central Community College Alumni Association recently announced annual alumni award recipients who will receive special recognition Saturday, Oct. 15, during the college’s annual Homecoming celebration.

Chief Phyliss Anderson (Class of 1994) of Carthage was chosen Alumna of the Year and Prentice Copeland (Class of 1949) of Philadelphia was selected Alumnus of the Year.

The East Central Community College Warrior soccer team fought hard, but ran out of time in a 4-2 loss against the Southwest Community College Bears Tuesday, Sept. 20, in Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.

The Warriors were down 2-0 in the second half, but were able to tie the game 2-2 with 13 minutes to play.

Southwest scored on a penalty kick and added another goal with two minutes left to play to go up for good and the win.

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team moved to 7-0 on the season after winning a non-division rematch against the Southwest Mississippi Community College Lady Bears Tuesday, Sept. 20, in Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.

Southwest jumped out to the early lead, but East Central freshman Cailee Helen McClain of Starkville High School was able to tie the game with 31 minutes left in the first half.

The East Central Community College men’s soccer team lost a close 3-2 battle against Hinds Community College Friday, Sept. 16, in Raymond.

ECCC scorers were Blake Bonds of Germantown High School, assisted by Fredy Gutierrez of Pontotoc High School, and Tanner Lindsey of Northwest Rankin High School.

The loss dropped the Warriors to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the MACJC North Division.

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team moved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MACJC North Division after defeating Hinds Community College Friday, Sept. 16, in Raymond.

ECCC kept its unbeaten streak alive with a 6-2 victory over Lady Eagles.

Freshman forward Sierra Maness of Corinth High School began the scoring in the first half for the second game in a row to help East Central take the early lead.

Hinds tied the game up with 34 minutes left in the first half before ECCC ran away with the lead.

The East Central Community College golf team traveled to Wesson Sept. 17-18 to complete in Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Event No. 1, hosted by Copiah-Lincoln Community College.

East Central finished in ninth place in the competition, posting a team score of 640 over the 36-hole event.
