East Central Community College (ECCC) is proud to announce the development of a new state-of-the-art nursing building on its Decatur campus on the south side of Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium. The new facility will host classes for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) students, enhancing the college’s ability to meet the increasing demand for healthcare professionals in Mississippi and beyond.
The new nursing building, built with funds available from AccelerateMS, will provide modern classroom spaces, and a supportive learning environment tailored specifically for LPN students. This facility will not only improve the educational experience for the college’s LPN nursing students but will also free up much-needed space in the current Dr. Phil A. Sutphin Nursing Building, allowing for expanded opportunities across other healthcare programs.
“This new facility represents a significant investment in the future of healthcare education at East Central Community College,” said Dr. Donna Everett, Dean of Healthcare Education at ECCC. “By creating a dedicated space for our LPN program, we are positioning our students for greater success and addressing the critical need for skilled nurses in our communities.”
Construction is underway, with the building designed to provide collaborative learning and hands-on training opportunities that reflect real-world healthcare settings. The project aligns with ECCC’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality, accessible education that supports workforce development in east central Mississippi.
