About the Library
The present library building was occupied during the 1976-77 academic year. The library was named in honor of retired head librarian, Ms. Mamie Ethel Burton, during a dedication ceremony Fall of 1976. Burton Library is located near the center of the campus and provides adequate shelving space to house over 37,000 items, as well as study rooms, a leisure reading area and special collection holdings . The library has a seating capacity of 175, mostly individual study carrels. Provisions are made for housing non-book materials and for meeting technological changes and needs.
