Registering for Fall 2019 classes is among the activities new and transfer students will participate in when East Central Community College in Decatur holds its upcoming Orientation sessions.

There are four upcoming Orientation sessions for various groups of new students.

Former University of Alabama defensive lineman and longtime high school and college football coach Rudy Griffin is the new defensive line coach at East Central Community College in Decatur, announced ECCC head football coach Ken Karcher.

The Hinds Community College tennis teams defeated the East Central Community College Warriors and Lady Warriors in MACJC matches played Tuesday, April 2, on the Hinds campus in Raymond.

The No. 18 ranked Hinds Eagles won the men’s match 9-0, while the Hinds Lady Eagles defeated the No. 25 ranked ECCC Lady Warriors 5-4. The two teams split back in March, with the Lady Warriors winning 5-4 and the Warriors losing 7-2.

The East Central women are now 10-7 on the season, while the ECCC men are 8-9.

East Central Community College sophomores Rebekah Scitzs of Collinsville and Marzell Triplett of Forest were named to the 2019 Phi Theta Kappa Community and Junior Colleges All-Mississippi Academic Team.

East Central Community College in Decatur invites everyone to attend the 17th annual Business, Education, & Healthcare Expo from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 3, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium.

The expo, coordinated by the college’s Career & Technical Education division, annually provides career and educational opportunities for ECCC students and community members. There is no charge for admission.

The East Central Community College Collegians rock and roll band will present its annual spring campus concert at 7 p.m. Monday, April 8, in Huff Auditorium on the Decatur campus. Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
