East Central Community College in Decatur will offer a new program in Diesel Equipment Technology in Philadelphia  beginning in Fall 2019, pending approval by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s basketball teams both moved a step closer to postseason play with big wins over Hinds Community College in the final home games of the season in Bracken-Wood Gym in Decatur Monday, Feb. 18.

The ECCC Lady Warriors took care of business in the opener with a 76-59 win over the Hinds Lady Bulldogs. The Warriors, needing a win to stay in contention for a postseason berth, defeated the Hinds Bulldogs 85-68.

The East Central Community College baseball team fell to No. 16 ranked Southeastern Iowa and perennial MACJC power Jones College in action Saturday, Feb. 16, at Community Bank Park on the Jones campus in Ellisville.

East Central picked up the two Saturday games in Ellisville after its scheduled doubleheader on Feb. 17 against Jefferson College (Mo.) at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur was canceled due to expected rain.

East Central Community College head women’s soccer coach Ryan Joiner hosted a one day player ID camp on Sunday, Feb. 17, on the ECCC campus in Decatur. More than 50 players from around the state participated in two training sessions and played in two games on the turf at Bailey Stadium.

The East Central Community College softball team opened the 2019 season with a pair of wins at the Northeast Mississippi Community College TigerFest Tournament, and in the process gave Eric Neel his first win as head coach of the Lady Warriors.

The East Central Community College tennis teams swept Southwest Mississippi Community College 9-0 in matches Friday, Feb. 15, in McComb their second shutout sweeps of an MACJC opponent of the week.

Both teams also swept Holmes Community College 9-0 in matches earlier in the week. The ECCC men are now 4-1 on the season, while the Lady Warriors are 3-2.

The East Central Community College basketball teams kept their playoffs hopes alive as they went on the road and swept MACJC South Division opponent Meridian in action Thursday, Feb. 14, at Graham Coliseum in The Queen City.

The ECCC Lady Warriors opened the evening with a 58-48 win over the Lady Eagles, followed by the Warriors defeating the Meridian Eagles 67-48.
