After coming up on the short end of a lot of close basketball games of late, the East Central Community College Warriors finally won a close one with a 77-72 victory over the Copiah-Lincoln Wolves Thursday, Feb. 7. The East Central Lady Warriors dropped their second straight game in the opener 70-60 to the Lady Wolves.

The MACJC South Division games were played in Grayson L. Mullen Gym in Wesson.

The nationally ranked Jones College tennis teams handed East Central Community College a pair of losses in MACJC matches played Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Tennis Complex on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

East Central Community College head football coach Ken Karcher announced the addition of 20 new members to the Warrior football team on National Signing Day Wednesday, Feb. 6.

The newcomers are all high school seniors.

A desperation shot at the buzzer that bounced off the rim was all that kept the East Central Community College Warriors from handing the No. 9 ranked Pearl River Wildcats their first defeat of the season in basketball action Monday, Feb. 4. The ECCC Lady Warriors also fell, losing 61-56 to the PRCC Lady Wildcats at Marvin R. White Coliseum in Poplarville.

It was a big turnaround for the Warriors in the 72-70 loss to the undefeated Wildcats. Pearl River defeated East Central by 33 in Decatur back on Jan. 10.

The East Central Community College Warrior football program will host an open tryout for offensive and defensive linemen on Friday, Feb. 8, at Bailey Stadium on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

Those offensive and defensive linemen interested in trying out for the ECCC football team should report to the stadium for registration at 10 a.m. The tryouts will begin at 10:30 a.m. There is no cost to tryout.

Prospective players should bring their own cleats and gear to workout in.
