East Central Community College in Decatur is the best in the state for the fourth straight year in preparing students for success at four-year public universities in Mississippi.

Students who transferred from ECCC to a public four-year institution earned the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of all community college transfers in the state of Mississippi in 2020.

Both the East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis teams along with 10 student-athletes have been recognized for academic success by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.20 or above.

East Central Community College is holding Orientation sessions for new students in July on the campus in Decatur. New freshman and transfer students are coming to campus on designated dates to have their student IDs made, pick up parking decals, and receive Orientation packets, while wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

Those interested in the many educational opportunities offered through East Central Community College’s Adult Education Program are invited to a “Meet the Teacher” Open House scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 5, on the campus in Decatur.

The informational event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 213 of Rives Hall, which is located on the South campus behind Ethridge Hall just off Broad Street.

Seventeen students graduated in July from the 12-month cosmetology program at East Central Community College in Decatur.

Those graduates include:

East Central Community College is excited to announce that many Fall 2020 courses will be using eBooks.

The courses that require eBooks will be billed directly to the student’s account and available the first day of class, in most instances at a significant cost-savings over the price of printed textbooks.

Forty East Central Community College student-athletes have been honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association for their academic performance during the 2019-2020 school year.

In addition to individual awards, the ECCC women’s tennis team garnered the 2019-20 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year award for that sport with a 3.83 grade-point average.

The East Central Community College campus in Decatur will fully reopen to students and the general public beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 13.

The college’s centers in Philadelphia, Choctaw, Louisville, Forest, and Carthage will also reopen to visitors on July 13.

The ECCC campus has been closed to students and visitors since March 16, with classes transitioning to online and alternate delivery formats for the remainder of the spring semester, and both the June and July summer semesters.
