Wheeler Drug Store Captures Warrior Golf Classic for Second Year

The Wheeler Drug Store team won the Championship Flight of the 16th Annual East Central Community College Warrior Golf Classic May 11 for the second straight year at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club, located on the Pearl River Resort in Choctaw.

Sponsored by the ECCC Alumni Association, the four-person scramble netted nearly $10,000 for student scholarships, according to event coordinator David LeBlanc, director of alumni relations and the foundation at ECCC in Decatur.

ECCC Announces Spring Semester Honor Roll

ECCC Phi Beta Lambda Chapter Named Largest in Nation

East Central Community College’s Theta Chi chapter of Phi Beta Lambda is the largest community college chapter in the nation, and fourth largest among all two-year and four-year institutions, the organization recently learned.

According to Christy Ferguson, ECCC business and office technology instructor and PBL advisor, there are more than 500 PBL chapters on college campuses across the United States. East Central’s chapter has 141 members.

ECCC Offering Numerous Courses During Summer Online, On-Campus Terms

East Central Community College in Decatur is offering a variety of courses this summer both online and on the Decatur campus, as well as its locations in Carthage and Philadelphia.

The college is offering courses during three terms: Summer Online Term, Summer I (June) Term, and Summer II (July) Term.

ECCC Board of Trustees Approves Budget Plan to Address Reductions in State Appropriations

The East Central Community College Board of Trustees this week approved the college’s 2017-18 budget plan aimed at offsetting a $1.04 million reduction in state appropriations for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins July 1, 2017.

The budget plan, which includes expenditure reductions and revenue increases, was approved at the board’s May meeting held on the Decatur campus.
