Losses to Northeast and No. 3 Jones College in the 2019 MACJC State Tournament ended the season for the No. 14 ranked East Central Community College Lady Warrior softball team.

East Central surrendered a four-run lead in the last two innings in an opening game 10-8 loss to the Northeast Lady Tigers that ended late in the night on May 8.

The 2019 East Central Community College baseball season came to an end in an NJCAA Region 23 best two-of-three playoff series as the No. 6 ranked Pearl River Wildcats won the third and deciding game 12-4 in seven innings Friday, May 10, in Poplarville.

Pearl River won the opening game of the series 4-3 on May 8. East Central came back to win a 1-0 pitcher’s duel the next morning. The Wildcats then won the clinching game three on May 10 as the two-day series was extended a day due to rain.

East Central Community College in Decatur recently announced members of the 2019-2020 Cheerleading Squad following tryouts held on the Decatur campus.

The East Central Community College women’s basketball program is sponsoring four camps this summer in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur.

The camps range from high school and junior varsity team camps to a youth day camp to a camp for rising high school seniors who desire to play college basketball.

East Central Community College head men’s soccer coach Kenneth Thompson has announced the addition of 20 new players for the 2019 team, including 17 freshmen.

These players will join four returning sophomores from last year’s Warrior soccer squad.

Numerous East Central Community College career and technical students took top honors in the Mississippi SkillsUSA state competition held recently in Jackson.  Those receiving first place honors will represent Mississippi and compete at the National Skills and Leadership Conference in Louisville, Ky., in June.

The East Central Community College softball team will begin Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges State Tournament play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, against the Northeast Lady Tigers at Community Bank Park/Gwen Magee Field on the campus of Jones College in Ellisville.

The No. 12 ranked Lady Warriors will be the No. 4 seed and face No. 5 seed Northeast. East Central swept a doubleheader over Northeast 13-0 and 7-4 in Booneville on April 17.
