Paperwork needed for students who have never applied or received VA educational benefits:

CHAPTER 1606 Montgomery GI Bill®—Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)
Selected Reserve (SR) (i.e. a traditional drilling Soldier and not Army Guard Reserve (AGR)) includes Army Reserve, Navy Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corp Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army National Guard, and Air National Guard.

  • VA Form 22-1990 (Online Application)
  • DD-2384 or DD-2384-1 Notice of Basic Eligibility (NOBE)
  • Copy of Kicker Contract, if eligible
  • Direct Deposit Available

CHAPTER 1607 Reserve Educational Assistance Program (REAP)
REAP is an education assistance program established on 28 October 2004 in recognition of Reserve Component (RC) members’ sacrifices in answering the call to duty. Soldiers who served on or after 11 September 2001 for 90 consecutive days or more in support of a contingency operation may be eligible to receive an increased GI Bill® benefit.

CHAPTER 30 Montgomery GI Bill®—Active Duty (MGIB-AD)
The MGIB-AD program may be available to you if you were a member of an Active Component, if you are or have been AGR, or if you were a member of the ARNG who was mobilized for 24 or more consecutive months.

  • Copy of Kicker Contract, if eligible
  • Form 2366-1 and copy of receipt or LES (if contributed to $600 Buy-up Program)

CHAPTER 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill®
The Post-9/11 GI Bill® is for individuals with a least 90 days of aggregate Title 10 active duty service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-conducted disability after 30 days.

  • VA Form 22-1990 (Online Application)
  • DD-214 (Member-4 copy)
  • Copy of Kicker Contract for National Guard and Reserves, if applicable
  • College Fund Contract for Active Duty, if applicable
  • Certificate of Eligibility (Do not wait to receive this to see the VA Certifying Official)

CHAPTER 33 TEB (TRANSFER OF POST 9/11 BENEFITS TO DEPENDENTS)
Service member must first complete DoD transferability application http://milconnect.dmdc.mil/

  • VA-Form 22-1990E (Online Application for Transfer of Entitlement, or TOE)
  • Transferability Authorization Form-Issued to service member
  • Certificate of Eligibility (Do not wait to receive this to see the VA Certifying Official)
  • Copy of any College Fund contracts issued to the service member, if applicable
  • Copy of Kicker Contract, if applicable

CHAPTER 31 DISABILITY COMPENSATION

CHAPTER 35 Dependants’ Education Assistance (DEA)
 The DEA program provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents and survivors of certain veterans (dependents of 100% disabled or deceased veterans).
