EC Day at the Neshoba County Fair is July 30

The annual EC Day at the Neshoba County Fair celebrating East Central Community College in Decatur is scheduled for Monday, July 30, at the Neshoba County Fairgrounds in Philadelphia.

ECCC alumni, students, and prospective students and their families, and all fair goers are invited to attend EC Day at the Fair.

The ECCC Collegians rock-n-roll band, the Warrior cheerleaders, and the Centralettes dance line are some of the entertainment scheduled for 1 to 2 p.m. at the Founders Square Pavilion.

Six ECCC Sports Teams Recognized for Academic Success

Led by the Lady Warrior softball team, six East Central Community College varsity sports teams earned National Junior College Athletic Association Academic Team of the Year Honorable Mention awards for having met the grade-point average requirement of 3.00 or better for the 2017-18 academic year.

With a 3.67 team GPA, the ECCC women’s softball team led all softball programs in the 15-team Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges and finished tied for second among all softball programs in the NJCAA.

75 ECCC Student-Athletes Recognized for Academic Performance

Seventy-five East Central Community College student-athletes have been honored by either the National Junior College Athletic Association or the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges, or both organizations, for their academic performance during the 2017-18 academic year.

In all, 45 ECCC student-athletes were recognized by the NJCAA and 75 were honored by the MACJC. East Central was third among all 15 community and junior colleges in Mississippi in the number of student-athletes honored by the NJCAA.

Recruiters for ECCC MI-BEST, Project Pathway Programs To Provide Information on Free Job Skills Training

Representatives from East Central Community College will be visiting locations throughout the district this summer to help prospective students learn more about the MI-BEST and Project Pathway programs, both of which help students learn or enhance job skills needed in today’s businesses and industries.

Whitney Amis, MI-BEST instructor, and Freda Thompson, who serves as navigator for the Project Pathway program, will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and free lunch will be provided on the following schedule:
