The East Central Lady Warriors eclipsed the 100 point total twice over the Thanksgiving holidays defeating Louisiana State University Eunice 108-87 and Wallace Community College-Selma out of Alabama 107-64 in the EC Classic held in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur Nov. 21-22.

The Lady Warriors have scored 100 or more points in three straight basketball games.

In the LSU Eunice matchup, freshman forward Autumn Taylor of Newton High School led all scorers with 23 points and also had six steals.

Five other Lady Warriors also put up double-digit scoring. Freshman center Curtisha Coleman of Wayne County High School was the leading rebounder with 13 and added 16 points. Sophomore guard Bryona Stewart of Itawamba Agricultural High School had 14 points. Sophomore guard Laneisha Jeans of Pine Forest (Fla.) High School added 13 points. Sophomore point guard Shadejha Brown of Lake High School had 12 points, and freshman Naja Gammage of Taylorsville High School added 10 points for the Lady Warriors.

ECCC fell behind in the first quarter, trailing 28-26, but did not trail the rest of the ballgame after taking the lead in the second quarter.

In the Wallace Community College-Selma game, Taylor put up 17 of the Lady Warriors’ points, brought down nine rebounds, and recorded four steals. Stewart added 17 points. Also in double-digit scoring were Jeans with 16 points, Coleman with 11 points, and freshman Khelsea Foster of Arcadia (La.) High School with 10 points.

The Lady Warrior improved to 5-1 on the season.

ECCC will begin division play when they travel to Southwest Mississippi Community College Monday, Dec. 5, to face the Lady Bears, before hosting Northeast Mississippi Community College Thursday, Dec. 8, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium in Decatur. Both games are set to tipoff at 5:30 p.m.
