East Central Community College freshman Cole Gray has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
A right-handed pitcher who prepped at Lamar School in Meridian, Gray was also named the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Pitcher of the Week for Feb. 13-19.
Gray picked up his first win as a Warrior in his first start against Coastal Alabama Community College (formerly Faulkner State) on Feb. 18 in the ECCC Invitational in Decatur. He threw six innings, giving up one run, two hits, and striking out 10 batters. He gave up only one walk.
The No. 8 nationally ranked East Central Warriors are 5-1 on the young season and host the Rush Invitational Feb. 24-25 at the Clark/Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur. East Central will face Tyler Junior College (Texas) at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, and Baton Rouge Community College (La.) at 7 p.m. that evening.
