Registration continues for Fall 2019 Intensive Term II on-campus, online, and four-week online courses at East Central Community College in Decatur.

The last day to register for courses for Fall 2019 Intensive Term II On-Campus is Thursday, Oct. 3. Classes begin Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Among the classes being offered during the eight-week accelerated on-campus term include Microsoft Word I, Introduction to Business, Computer-Aided Design II, College Algebra, and Calculus II and IV.

East Central Community College’s Burton Library will host “Stand Up!” : Mississippi Freedom Summer of 1964 Sept. 3-30, 2019, on the campus in Decatur. There is no charge for admission and the public is invited to attend during regular library hours, which are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursdays, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Fridays, and 4 to 9 p.m. on Sundays.

East Central Community College in Decatur presented new awards to start the new academic year on campus to recognize the college’s faculty and staff member of the year.

The East Central Community College soccer teams picked up a pair of impressive non-division soccer wins Friday, Aug. 30, against the Southwest Mississippi teams in matches played in Summit.

The East Central women remained perfect on the season with a 5-0 shutout of the Southwest Lady Bears. The ECCC Warriors followed with a 3-1 win over the Bears.

The ECCC Lady Warriors are now 2-0 on the season, while the Warriors improved to 2-1 with their second straight win.

The East Central Community College Warriors traveled to Cuthbert, Ga., for a rare out-of-state soccer match Aug. 27 and brought home a 3-2 win over the Andrew College Fighting Tigers.

The Warriors moved to 1-1 on the season with the win. Andrew College fell to 0-1.

The Newton County High School Cougar Pride Marching Band and Blue Stars Dance Team will perform and one lucky student will get a chance to win an Achievement Recognition Scholarship for the fall 2020 semester as East Central Community College hosts its annual “Be Our Guest” night Thursday, Sept. 19.

East Central Community College sophomore Caleb Collins of Clinton is one of 207 Phi Theta Kappa members named a 2019 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Collins is an engineering major and a graduate of Clinton High School.
