The preseason has come to a close and the East Central Community College soccer teams are ready to jump into the 2019 regular season after hosting the Meridian Community College teams in a couple of exhibition matches Friday, Aug. 16.

The ECCC Lady Warriors and Meridian Lady Eagles battled to a 0-0 tie in the opening match in Bailey Stadium on the East Central campus in Decatur.

U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi will be among those helping East Central Community College and its partners celebrate the college’s new Diesel Equipment Technology program and new facility during ceremonies Friday, Aug. 23, at the former U.S. Motors Plant site in Philadelphia.

The public is invited to the 10 a.m. dedication at the ECCC Diesel Equipment Technology program facility located at 1250 Pecan Avenue in Philadelphia.

ECCC Softball to Host Prospect Camp Aug. 25

The East Central Community College softball program is hosting a Prospect Camp for 9th through 12th grade players Sunday, Aug. 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Softball Complex on the campus in Decatur.

Registration begins at 1:15 p.m. on Aug. 25 with coach and player introductions. The camp will consist of skill work, a scrimmage, and a campus tour.

The East Central Community College men’s basketball program is hosting an Elite Camp for 9th through 12th grade players Saturday, Aug. 24, from 1 to 5 p.m. in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur.

The cost is $35 per player.

East Central Community College (ECCC) in Decatur is the best in the state for the third straight year in preparing students for success at four-year public universities in Mississippi.

Students who transferred from ECCC to a public four-year institution earned the highest cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of all community college transfers in the state of Mississippi in 2019.

The Mississippi Works Career-Technical Scholarship program has available scholarship opportunities for qualified East Central Community College students who are enrolled in approved degree programs for the 2019-20 term.

To be eligible for the Mississippi Works Career-Technical Scholarships, students must be a legal resident of Mississippi, admitted to an approved Mississippi Works Career-Technical Scholars program, apply for and accept all offers for all available federal and state financial aid, and be a full-time student.
