East Central Community College in Decatur recently announced Drum Majors, members of the Centrlattes danceline and Color Guard for the 2019-20 term. All perform with the Wall O’ Sound Marching Band and Centralettes and Color Guard perform at basketball games and other special events throughout the year.

Drum majors and their respective high schools include Jasmine McDonald of Union, Kaitlyn Kyzar of Scott Central, Jorian Jackson of Morton, and Luke Wall, Newton County.

New and transfer students planning to attend East Central Community College in fall 2019 can take advantage of Weekday Orientation sessions this summer on the Decatur campus.

Weekday Orientation is available Monday through Thursday from June 10 to Aug. 1 at either 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. The college will be closed July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. Fall 2019 classes begin on Monday, Aug. 12.

The East Central Community College men’s basketball program is hosting a summer camp for individual players entering 8th through 12th grades June 23-25 in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the campus in Decatur.

The cost of the three-day, two-night camp is $160 for campers who stay overnight in an ECCC residence hall and $130 for commuters.

Both the East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis teams are ranked in the final Oracle/ITA National Junior College Athletic Association Top 25 poll of the spring season.

The ECCC men are ranked No. 19 in the nation after competing in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship earlier this month, while the ECCC Lady Warriors are ranked No. 24.

East Central Community College 2019 graduate Breshia Donald of Forest was recently awarded a scholarship to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration scheduled Oct. 1-4, 2019, in Orlando, Fla. The conference is the world’s largest gathering of women technologists and is produced by AnitaB.org, which is a digital community for women in computing.

Donald, who was a computer science major at ECCC, is a graduate of Forest High School. She will be continuing her education in computer science this fall at Mississippi State University.

The East Central Community College Small Business Development Center will offer a free seminar on “First Steps-The Process of Starting a Small Business” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2019, in the Workforce Development Center, located at 52 9th Street on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

This seminar will include basic steps in starting your own business. Topics will include licenses and permits, legal forms of ownership, basic marketing concepts, lending terminology and outlining a business plan.

Registering for fall 2019 classes is among the activities new and transfer students will participate in when East Central Community College holds its Warrior Wednesday Orientation session June 5, 2019, on the Decatur campus.

The Warrior Wednesday Orientation will be from 9 a.m. to Noon beginning in the Vickers Fine Arts Center. New students can begin signing in for the session at 8:30 a.m.
