East Central Community College 2019 graduate Breshia Donald of Forest was recently awarded a scholarship to attend the Grace Hopper Celebration scheduled Oct. 1-4, 2019, in Orlando, Fla. The conference is the world’s largest gathering of women technologists and is produced by AnitaB.org, which is a digital community for women in computing.

Donald, who was a computer science major at ECCC, is a graduate of Forest High School. She will be continuing her education in computer science this fall at Mississippi State University.

Scholarships for the celebration are awarded to students enrolled full-time in an accredited degree program who have shown satisfactory progress toward a degree such as, but not limited to, computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline such as electrical engineering, human-computer interaction, math, physics, or management information systems.

Awards are based on the student’s activity in their community and campus, as well as work toward the advancement of women in computing.
