All students at high schools in Leake County are invited to a special “Be Our Guest” night when the East Central Community College women’s and men’s basketball teams face Pearl River Community College on Thursday, Jan. 10, in Brackeen-Wood Gymnasium on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

The East Central Lady Warriors will battle the Pearl River Lady Wildcats at 5:30 p.m., followed by the ECCC Warriors and the Pearl River Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. The Pearl River men are currently ranked No. 17 in the nation.

The East Central Community College Lady Warriors and Warriors closed out the 2018 portion of their basketball seasons with a split against Delgado Community College in doubleheader action Thursday, Dec. 13. The games were played at Dillard University in New Orleans.

The Lady Warriors overcame a slow start in the first period to grab a 63-49 win over the Lady Dolphins. East Central shot only 21 percent from the floor the first 10 minutes and trailed 28-27 after two periods.

East Central Community College is hosting a girls and boys High School Basketball Shootout Dec. 21-22 in Brackeen-Wood Gym on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

Admission is $7 per day.

The schedule for the ECCC High School Basketball Shootout is:

Friday, Dec. 21: Southeast Lauderdale vs. Natchez (girls), 2:30 p.m.; Southeast Lauderdale vs. Natchez (boys), 4 p.m.; Choctaw Central vs. Newton (girls), 5:30 p.m.; and Choctaw Central vs. Newton (boys), 7 p.m.

The application for scholarships awarded by the East Central Community College Foundation will be available beginning Jan. 2, 2019, through Feb. 15, 2019.

Students applying for scholarships must first complete an application for admission located on the college website at www.eccc.edu. After being accepted for admission, students may then apply for scholarships by logging into their myEC account and clicking on the Future Students tab.

The East Central Community College Lady Warriors outscored the Coahoma Lady Tigers by 20 in the final two periods to overcome a halftime deficit and grab a win, while the ECCC Warriors lost a heartbreaker to the Coahoma Tigers on a buzzer-beating three-pointer in MACJC non-division action at the Pinnacle on the Coahoma campus in Clarksdale Saturday, Dec. 8.

East Central Community College head women’s soccer coach Ryan Joiner has announced the ECCC Spring ID Camp set for Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019, at the Soccer Field on the campus in Decatur.

The ECCC Spring ID Camp is only for female soccer players in grades 8 through 12 (graduating classes of 2019-2023) and is an opportunity to be evaluated by college coaches and to train with other talented soccer players.

East Central Community College’s 2018 Warrior Wonderland scheduled for Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, has been canceled due to the potential for rain in the late afternoon and evening.

Warrior Wonderland was scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m., immediately following the Decatur Christmas Parade, and last until 8:30 p.m. on the ECCC campus in Decatur. Several national and local weather forecasts indicate the high potential for rain beginning late Friday afternoon and continuing throughout the evening and into Saturday.
