East Central Softball Splits Road Doubleheader at Marion Military

The East Central Community College Lady Warrior softball team scored twice in the top of the eighth inning to grab a 5-4 second game win over Marion Military Institute Monday, Feb. 12, and salvage a doubleheader split with the Lady Tigers.

Marion Military won the opener 9-1 in the doubleheader played in Marion, Ala.

East Central, ranked No. 10 in the NJCAA Division II Softball Poll, is now 3-1 overall on the season. Division I Marion Military is 6-4.

ECCC Women Win, Men Fall in Basketball Action at Gulf Coast

The East Central Community College Lady Warriors overcame a fast start by the Mississippi Gulf Coast Lady Bulldogs Thursday night, Feb. 8, to earn a 75-64 MACJC South Division win in Perkinston. It was quite the opposite in the men’s action as the Gulf Coast Bulldogs rolled out to a big lead early and never looked back in defeating the Warriors 86-61.

The games were played in the Weathers/Wentzell Center on the Gulf Coast campus.

ECCC Women’s Soccer Team to Hold Open Tryout

An open tryout for the 2018 East Central Community College women’s soccer team will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Soccer Complex on the campus in Decatur, announced new head women’s soccer coach Ryan Joiner.

Registration will be held at the soccer field beginning at 1 p.m.

Players will need to bring their own equipment to workout in for the day. All players will have to sign a waiver of liability, bring a current copy of their physical, and fill out a player information sheet in order to tryout.

ECCC Offers Basic Computer & Microsoft Office 2010 in Carthage Feb. 27

The East Central Community College Workforce Development Center will offer a Basic Computer & Microsoft Office 2010 course on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, at Carthage Career Advancement Center, located at 121 West Main St., Carthage.

The class will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dr. Lucretia Williams will serve as instructor. The cost is $25 per person.
