The East Central Community College women’s soccer team moved to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the MACJC North Division after defeating Hinds Community College Friday, Sept. 16, in Raymond.

ECCC kept its unbeaten streak alive with a 6-2 victory over Lady Eagles.

Freshman forward Sierra Maness of Corinth High School began the scoring in the first half for the second game in a row to help East Central take the early lead.

Hinds tied the game up with 34 minutes left in the first half before ECCC ran away with the lead.

The East Central Community College golf team traveled to Wesson Sept. 17-18 to complete in Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Event No. 1, hosted by Copiah-Lincoln Community College.

East Central finished in ninth place in the competition, posting a team score of 640 over the 36-hole event.

The East Central Community College football team brought home its first win of the season after traveling to Poplarville Sept. 15 to take on the Pearl River Community College Wildcats in a MACJC South Division opener.

The Warriors pulled out a 35-21 victory over the Wildcats by taking advantage of turnovers.

Sophomore defensive back Juwon Hayes-Keyes of Taylorsville High School picked off three Pearl River passes during the contest.

The East Central Community College men’s soccer team beat Holmes Community College 3-2 in a close North Division matchup Sept. 14 at the Soccer Complex in Decatur.

ECCC improved to 3-3 overall on the season and 2-1 in the North Division.

Warrior freshman forward Orion Anderson of Clinton High School had a header into the net just before halftime to tie the match at 1-1.

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team defeated Holmes Community College 4-0 Sept. 14 in North Division action at the Soccer Complex in Decatur.

The win against the Lady Bulldogs brings the ECCC to 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in the division.

Both teams were undefeated going into the matchup.

Freshman forward Sierra Maness of Corinth High School began the scoring for the Lady Warriors with a first half goal.

After the half, Ashley Langham of Florence High School scored.

Registration continues for Fall 2016 Intensive Term II on-campus and online courses at East Central Community College in Decatur.

The last day to register for on-campus courses in the Fall 2016 Intensive Term II is Thursday, Oct. 6. Classes begin on Wednesday, Oct. 5.

The Newton County High School marching band will perform and one lucky student will get a chance to kick a 20-yard field goal for free tuition for the fall 2017 semester as East Central Community College hosts its annual “Be Our Guest Night” Thursday, Sept. 22.

All area high school students are invited to attend and will be admitted free to the game between the East Central Warriors and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. in Bailey Stadium on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

Northeast Mississippi Community College found the end-zone with 28 seconds left in the ballgame to pull out a 24-21 win against the East Central Community College in football action Thursday, Sept. 8, in Bailey Stadium on the Decatur campus.

For the second straight week the Warriors faced a back and forth battle.

Northeast began the scoring with a 37-yard field goal to go up 3-0 with 5:30 left in the first quarter.

The East Central Community College women’s soccer team remained undefeated with a 1-0 victory over Northwest Mississippi Community College on Wednesday, Sept. 7, in Senatobia.

ECCC’s lone goal was by freshman forward Eleanor Jones from New South Wales, Australia, in the first half.

In the men’s match, East Central’s Courtland Moore of Center Hill High School was able to find the net against Northwest in the first half. However, the Warriors fell to the Rangers 4-1.
