ECCC Offering May Semester Courses

General Biology I & II, English Composition I, and Public Speaking I are just some of the for-credit courses being offered this May during East Central Community College’s May Semester.

The three-week May Term begins on Monday, May 7, and ends on Friday, May 25. The last day to register is Tuesday, May 8. All courses are on the campus in Decatur.

Registration for all three terms can be done online at www.eccc.edu.

ECCC Baseball Falls Just Short in Quest for Sweep at Northeast

The No. 20 ranked East Central Community College Warriors grabbed a 12-2 run-rule win in game one, but fell short in the quest for the sweep in game two of a doubleheader against the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers Friday, April 13.

After the big game one win, the Warriors tied game two 5-5 in the top of the seventh with an RBI single off the bat of freshman Ken Scott of Clarkdale, only to see the Tigers get a walk-off, three-run homer in the bottom of the inning for the 8-5 win.

ECCC Tennis Teams Fall at Meridian in Final Regular Season Matches

The East Central Community College men’s and women’s tennis teams played their final regular season matches before next week’s State/Region 23 Tournament, falling to the nationally ranked teams from Meridian Community College in matches played in Meridian.

The ECCC women lost 7-2 to No. 23 ranked Meridian, while the East Central men fell 9-0 to No. 10 Meridian.

ECCC Students Named to All-Mississippi Academic Team

East Central Community College sophomores Reagan Gorgas of Decatur and Laicon Partain of Sebastopol were named to the 2018 Phi Theta Kappa Community and Junior Colleges All-Mississippi Academic Team.

The All-Mississippi Community College Academic Team recognizes scholarly achievements and leadership accomplishments of students enrolled in the state’s two-year colleges.

Gorgas, a kinesiology major who plans to become a physical therapist, was one of 15 students named to the First Team. She received a $1,000 scholarship.
