The East Central Community College football team has a new offensive line coach coming into the 2022 season in Ben Luther.

Luther, a Picayune native, and Picayune Memorial High School graduate brings years of experience to the Warrior offensive line with coaching experience at multiple levels of collegiate football.

"I'm really excited about the opportunity to be back in Mississippi, and have had a strong calling to come back," said Luther. "I have a big role to fill from coach Dennis Alexander, and I look to continue the tradition of strong offensive line play. I know that at this level there is a lot of developing and getting guys off on the right foot to be in the best position for success, and I'm going to give it everything I have to do that for our players."

Luther played at Pearl River Community College before graduating in 2010 and continuing his education at Ole Miss where he majored in exercise science. During his time in Oxford, Luther began his coaching career as a volunteer at Oxford High School and intern at the Olympic Weight Room where he assisted with multiple Ole Miss sports.

Upon graduation, Luther interned in the University of Alabama weight room for one season in 2012 under the direction of Nick Saban where he worked exclusively with the offensive line with strength and conditioning.

Luther followed that with a coaching stint at East Mississippi Community College as a defensive assistant coach and strength and conditioning coach before returning to Pearl River for two years where he assisted both the offensive and defensive lines.

After his stop at his alma mater, Luther coached at the University of Tennessee at Martin from 2014 to 2016 where he served as an assistant offensive line and tight ends coach while earning a master's degree in family and consumer science.

He had one season at South Alabama in the fall of 2016 as a graduate assistant offensive line coach, before being named the offensive line coach at Tusculum University in Greenville, Tenn., in 2017. Luther spent three seasons with the Pioneers and coached two All-South Atlantic Conference players, one All-Region player, and helped break the school rushing record.

Luther's most recent coaching stop was at Concord University as the offensive line coach. Despite playing just one game in 2020 due to COVID-19, and 10 games in 2021, Luther helped the Mountain Lions break 21 school records, two conference records, and one national record.

"My experience helps me tremendously as I can give our players and recruits an at-home feeling and can share my knowledge with these guys," said Luther. "I have been fortunate to recruit the MACCC and I have had my hand in transferring community college guys to the programs I've been a part of. There is something special about the Mississippi community college system, and I took this job knowing it was a great place to call home, work with a great staff under coach Ken Karcher, and since I have been out, I've been looking for an opportunity to get back in."

Luther lives in Decatur and has one daughter, Lillian Belle Luther.
