East Central Community College freshman running back Dwayne Barnett of Gulfport is the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Football Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against Southwest Mississippi Community College on Oct. 29.
Barnett, a product of Harrison Central High School, rushed for a career-high 227 yards on 38 carries and a touchdown in the 42-13 East Central win over Southwest.
On the season Barnett has rushed for 957 yards and nine touchdowns in nine games.
East Central, champions of the MACJC South Division, host defending national champion Northwest Mississippi Community College in an MACJC state semifinal playoff game Saturday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. in Bailey Stadium in Decatur.
