East Central Community College Celebrates 2025 High School Equivalency Graduates

East Central Community College proudly awarded High School Equivalency (HSE) diplomas to 63 graduates during a commencement ceremony held Thursday, June 26, 2025, in Huff Auditorium on the Decatur campus.

The ceremony began with Kelli White, HSE Instructor, delivering the invocation, and ECCC President Dr. Brent Gregory welcoming graduates, families, and guests. Director of Adult Education/High School Equivalency Alfreda Thompson offered words of encouragement, followed by the introduction of the guest speaker by Georgia Russell, HSE Instructor. HSE graduate Kenneth Goleman shared a student testimonial.

Victoria Harris, HSE Facilitator, presented the candidates, and Dr. Gregory conferred the diplomas. Thompson then led the symbolic turning of the tassel, and the ceremony concluded with a formal recessional.

ECCC’s Adult Education program serves residents in Leake, Neshoba, Newton, Scott, and Winston counties, offering free day and evening classes in Carthage, Decatur, Philadelphia, Forest, and Louisville. These programs include Adult Education (AE), High School Equivalency (HSE) exam preparation, and English as a Second Language (ESL).
