East Central Community College inducted 142 new members into the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society during a ceremony held Monday, February 23, in Huff Auditorium in Decatur.
The program began with the Procession of Inductees, followed by an invocation delivered by Mr. James Miller, Vice President of Student Services. David Case, Executive Vice President of East Central Community College, provided welcome and opening remarks.
Mr. Miller, serving in his role as PTK Advisor, recognized the chapter officers prior to the induction ceremony. The induction of new members was conducted by the chapter officers.
New members were officially welcomed by PTK Advisors Mrs. Renee Boggan and Dr. Amanda Walton.
Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society of two-year colleges, established in 1918 to recognize academic achievement and provide opportunities for growth through leadership and service. To be eligible for membership, students must complete at least 12 hours of associate degree coursework and maintain a minimum 3.5 grade point average.
