The East Central Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams dropped a pair of matches to Jones County Junior College in action Friday, Aug. 24, on the JCJC campus in Ellisville.
The Jones County Lady Bobcats took a 4-0 shutout win over the East Central Lady Warriors in the opener, while the Jones County men won the second game 5-2.
Trailing 3-0, the East Central Warriors closed the gap to 3-2 late in the match, before the Bobcats added a couple of late goals for the 5-2 margin. The Warrior goals came from freshman forward Braylen Greer of Warren Central in Vicksburg, assisted by freshman midfielder Joel Hill out of Newton County and sophomore midfielder Vitor Gomes from Fortaleza, Brazil, and from Gomes.
The ECCC Lady Warriors fell to 1-1 on the regular season. It was the regular season opener for the Warriors who are now 0-1.
Following a trip to Poplarville to face Pearl River Community College at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, the East Central teams will play their regular season home openers against Itawamba Community College at 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, at the Soccer Field on the campus in Decatur.
