The East Central Community College tennis teams returned to winning form with a sweep of MACJC conference foe Southwest on Friday, Feb. 14, at the Tennis Complex on the ECCC campus in Decatur.

The No. 20 Lady Warriors and the No. 21 Warriors both won their matches by 9-0 scores.

With the win, the Lady Warriors are now 2-2 on the season and the Warriors are 1-3. Both Southwest teams fall to 0-3.

Women’s Doubles Results:
EC’s Natalia Beltran (Bogota, Colombia) and Alejandra Vargas (Bogota, Colombia) defeated SMCC’s Savannah Frith and Kimberly San, 8-1; EC’s Josie Hurst (Newton County) and Ali Grace Walker (Newton County) defeated SMCC’s Amber Byrd and Rylie Garris, 8-0; and EC’s Kayla Baucum (Newton County) and Marla Graham (Newton County Academy) defeated SMCC’s Allye Byrd and Camila Cevallos, 8-0.

Women’s Singles Results:
EC’s Beltran defeated SMCC’s San, 6-0, 6-0; EC’s Vargas defeated SMCC’s Frith, 6-1, 6-1; EC’s Walker defeated SMCC’s Amber Byrd, 6-0, 6-0; EC’s Hurst defeated SMCC’s Garris, 6-1, 6-1; EC’s Baucum defeated SMCC’s Allye Byrd, 6-0, 6-1; and EC’s Graham defeated SMCC’s Cevallos, 6-0, 6-0.

Men’s Doubles Results:
EC’s Chris Lawrance (York, Western Australia) and Isaac Santitto (Innisfail, Queensland, Australia) defeated SMCC’s Daniel Espinosa and Gavin Thomas, 8-1; EC’s Dylan Barnett (Newton County) and Peyton Chaney (Newton County) defeated SMCC’s Jexequiel Dela Cruz and Julius Boyd, 8-1; and EC’s Dominick Donaldson (Florence) and Chris Albert (Vicksburg, St. Aloysius) defeated SMCC’s Dylan Bergeron and Jacob Brown, 8-2.

Men’s Singles Results:
EC’s Lawrance defeated SMCC’s Espinosa, 6-2, 6-7 (19-17); EC’s Santitto defeated SMCC’s Boyd, 6-0, 6-0; EC’s Barnett defeated SMCC’s Dela Cruz, 6-0, 6-0; EC’s Chaney defeated SMCC’s Thomas, 6-3, 6-1; EC’s Albert defeated SMCC’s Bergeron, 6-2, 6-2; and EC’s Donaldson defeated Brown, 6-0, 6-3.

The East Central Lady Warriors will play Snead State (Ala.) at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Tennis Complex on campus. Both teams will travel to Goodman to play Homes at 2:30 pm. On Tuesday, Feb. 18, and then to Fulton to face Itawamba at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21.
