For the second straight season, East Central Community College defensive back Keonte’ Daniels was named to both the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges First Team All-State Defense and the National Junior College Athletic Association First Team All-Region 23 Defense for his play during the recently completed season.

Six other Warriors were also recognized with postseason honors.

Daniels, a product of Noxapater High School, had 37 tackles on the season and led the team with three interceptions.

Also earning postseason honors were freshman wide receiver Jaylen Zachery out of Dayton, Ohio, MACJC First Team All-State Offense; sophomore offensive lineman Ethan McMullan, who prepped at Newton County High School, MACJC First Team All-State Offense; and freshman defensive lineman Alvin Dempsey III of Port St. Joe, Fla., MACJC First Team All-State Defense.

Named to the MACJC Second Team All-State Defense were sophomore linebacker V.J. Swanier of Pass Christian and sophomore defensive back Kendrick Abney of Heidelberg and Sylva Bay Academy.

Sophomore wide receiver Kevontaye Caston of Trinity Episcopal in Natchez was named the MACJC Second Team All-State Returner.

East Central finished the season with a 4-5 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the MACJC South Division.
