East Central Community College’s Rhonda Morrow and Amy Denson were recognized Tuesday during a ceremony at Mississippi State University after completing the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy as members of the 2026 class.
Morrow, sociology instructor and division chair for social sciences, education, business, and fine arts, and Denson, chemistry instructor, represented East Central in the yearlong leadership development program alongside participants from community colleges and universities across the state.
Established in 2009, the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy was created to help prepare the next generation of leaders for Mississippi’s community college system. The program is designed to address real-world leadership needs within the state’s community colleges and provide participants with a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in that environment.
“We are proud of Rhonda and Amy for completing the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy,” said ECCC President Dr. Brent Gregory. “Opportunities like MCCLA help strengthen the future of community colleges in our state by developing leaders who understand our students, our mission, and the communities we serve. Rhonda and Amy brought valuable experience to the program, and East Central is fortunate to have them serving our students and college.”
Through the support of Mississippi State University, MCCLA offers participants the opportunity to grow as leaders, connect with peers across higher education, and broaden their understanding of key issues facing colleges throughout Mississippi.
