The season came to an end for both the East Central Community College men’s and women’s soccer teams as the Lady Warriors and Warriors dropped matches on late goals against Hinds Community College in action Monday, Oct. 15, in Raymond.

The losses ended the season for both East Central teams as they failed to qualify for the MACJC state playoffs.

The East Central women fell to the Hinds Lady Eagles 3-2 on a goal with 54 seconds to play. Scoring for East Central were sophomore defender Haley Jones of Pelahatchie and freshman forward Macey Spencer of Florence.

The Lady Warriors ended their season with a 5-11 overall record and 1-7 in MACJC North Division play. The Hinds Lady Eagles are 4-8 overall and 4-4 in league play.

In the men’s action, East Central battled back from a 2-0 second half deficit to tie the match, only to lose 3-2 on a goal by the Hinds Eagles with less than six minutes to play. Scoring for the Warriors were sophomore midfielders Hunter Holdiness out of Warren Central in Vicksburg and Vitor Gomes (Fortaleza, Brazil).

The East Central Warriors completed their season with a 3-11 overall record and 3-5 in the league. Hinds improved to 7-4 and 5-3.
