The Jones College Bobcats netted nine goals in the final 23 minutes of action to post a 14-3 soccer win over the East Central Community College Warriors in non-division action Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Decatur.

The match was played on the turf in Bailey Stadium due to the wet conditions at the Soccer Field.

The Jones Bobcats only led 3-2 at the half and then 5-3 with 23 minutes remaining before a flurry of activity resulted in a 9-0 goal run by Jones for the big win.

Scoring goals for East Central were freshman forward Braylen Greer of Warren Central in Vicksburg, assisted by sophomore midfielder Chris Perez out of Forest, and sophomore midfielder Vitor Gomes (Fortaleza, Brazil) who netted two goals in the match, one with an assist from freshman midfielder Sean Dixon of Warren Central.

The ECCC Warriors fell to 2-7 on the season, while Jones improved to 7-1.

The Warriors will host Gulf Coast on Friday, Sept. 28, at 4 p.m. before traveling to Fulton to face Itawamba at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 3. East Central will host Northwest on Friday, Oct. 5, at 3 p.m. in Decatur.
