The No. 8 East Central Community College baseball team moved to 10-2 on the season with a doubleheader sweep over Bishop State Community College Saturday, March 4, in Mobile.

ECCC won the opener 5-3 and the finished the sweep with a 9-1 nightcap victory.

In game one, East Central jumped out to an early lead scoring three runs in the fourth inning and adding another in the top of the fifth.

Bishop State closed the deficit to 4-2 after scoring two in the bottom of sixth and then added one more in the seventh to edge closer, 4-3.

The Warriors were able to score one in the top of the ninth for 5-3 win.

Sophomore designated hitter Ty Alderman of Newton County Academy led the Warriors offensively with two RBI.

Freshman Sam Parker of Natchez Cathedral High School picked up the win pitching 5.2 innings, allowing one hit, two runs and striking out nine.

In the nightcap, the Warriors scored three runs in the top of the first, while Bishop State scored its lone run in the bottom of the first.

ECCC extended its lead to the final 9-1 score by adding a run in the third, two in the fifth, and three more in the sixth.

Alderman went 2-for-3 at the plate in game two driving in two runs with a double and triple. Billy Cameron of Mendenhall High School blasted a solo-home run in the nightcap.

Left-handed pitcher Brooks Warren of French Camp Academy picked up his second win of the season pitching 3.1 innings striking out four and allowing one earned run.

The Warriors will host Shelton State Community College Wednesday, March 8, at the Clark-Gay Baseball Complex in Decatur. The doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
