East Central Community College in Decatur has been designated as a Military Friendly® School by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs®, STEM Jobs, and Military Spouse magazines. It is the fifth consecutive year that ECCC has earned the Military Friendly® School designation.

ECCC is one of only five community colleges in Mississippi to earn the Military Friendly® designation for 2017.

First published in 2009, Military Friendly® Schools is a comprehensive resource provided to service members and their families to help them select the best college, university or trade school to receive the education and training needed to pursue a civilian career.

Institutions earning Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from Victory Media’s proprietary survey. Final ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for Student Retention, Graduation, Job Placement, Loan Repayment, Persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and Loan Default rates for all students and, specifically, for student veterans.

More than 1,700 schools participated in the 2017 survey and 1,273 were awarded the designation.

ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart said he is “extremely proud” the college has again earned recognition as a Military Friendly® School.

“East Central Community College has a strong commitment to our country’s men and women in the military as evidenced by being named a Military Friendly® School for the fifth year in a row,” noted Stewart. “We will continue to provide high-quality programs and services to assist military personnel in meeting their educational goals at East Central.”

ECCC is showcased with other 2017 Military Friendly® School in the annual Guide to Military Friendly Schools, special issues of G.I. Jobs® and Military Spouse magazines, and on militaryfriendly.com.
