East Central Community College Leads State in Enrollment Growth with a 24% Increase Since 2021

October 7, 2024

East Central Community College (ECCC) in Decatur continues to set the pace for student enrollment growth among Mississippi's 15 community colleges, boasting a 24% increase in headcount since the fall of 2021, the highest in the state. Over the past year alone, enrollment grew by 6.8%, further solidifying ECCC’s position as a top choice for students seeking a comprehensive, affordable educational experience.

“We are extremely proud of the dedication shown by our enrollment management team and the entire ECCC community in fostering an environment that attracts and retains students,” said ECCC President Dr. Brent Gregory. “Our growth reflects the quality education and exciting campus life that we offer, and it demonstrates our commitment to providing students with the best value in higher education.”

ECCC’s enrollment surge is largely attributed to its focus on student success and retention initiatives. The college continues to build a reputation for offering exceptional education, a full collegiate experience, and strong support services—all while maintaining affordability.

“We are excited about the direction we are headed in and remain committed to offering an unparalleled educational experience,” added Gregory. “Our goal is to continue to serve as the premier community college in our region, attracting students from across our five-county district and beyond.”
